CHOIR PROGRAM

Park Campus has three choirs for students in fifth through eighth grade. The Concert Choir (7/8) goes to competition with the Illinois Grade School Music Association (IGSMA) and another with a trip to Great America. Students also have the opportunity to participate in ILMEA Ensemble Day and Solo and Ensemble.

Beginning Choir: This choir is made up of 5th-grade students and meets every Friday from 9:50-10:20 during the school day. Fifth grade beginning choir introduces students to proper singing technique. Student will sing in unison and two part music. Several concert opportunities are available.

Cadet choir: Meeting twice a week (Monday and Thursday) during team time, sixth graders continue focusing on proper singing technique while learning to be part of a choral group. Students will focus on learning a wide variety of music that is two-part harmony. There are several performance opportunities.

Concert Choir: The Concert Choir at Park is made up of seventh and eighth-grade students. We focus on singing three-part choral music, improving our musicianship through sight-reading, theory, and vocabulary, and singing a variety of repertoire. The Concert Choir members can attend VanderCook’s Middle-Level Honor Fest, ILMEA Ensemble Day, and IGSMA Solo and Ensemble. As a choir, we compete in IGSMA Organization Contest in March and April.
